Chile

When I was in Primary, we had to learn about Volcanoes.  This subject took the teacher about 2 weeks to cover, in which she told us every detail right from the cores of the Earths to New Zealand’s history of Volcanic explosions.

I.was.terrified.

I kid you not, for a good year or so after I would wake at night, shaking, sweating and fearing for my life like no 7 year old should.  I was convinced that one of the 40-odd volcanoes in the Auckland region would surely blow up and kill me.

Fortunately I got over this fear, however with the recent terrible events that seem to be occurring around the world, I have found myself shying away from reading the newspaper everyday like I usually do…

But then I came across these images.

The Eruption of Puyehue Volcano in Chile for the first time in 50 years was no doubt devastating – with ash covering the Andes and Argentina, however it did make for some stunning images.

I can only imagine what these people are going through and hope to god it doesn’t happen here.
