That went fast…
Day 5 of absolutely NO sugar in my life.
I feel awesome.
Anyone else feel like quitting sugar has made them readjust your whole way of eating? I feel like I want to be healthier – I have also realised that sugar is in EVERYTHING! Wow. Talk about slowly killing ourselves with this poison, it’s hard to avoid.
For anyone interested, my daily meals consist of:
Breakfast:
Organic oats cooked in water with a sprinkle of LSA on top
Lunch:
Steamed brocoli, carrots, mushrooms, avocado and fish (sometimes with some Quinoa)
Dinner:
Same as lunch but might have chicken.
No snacks, 1 coffee per day, lots of water. Herbal Teas help curb cravings!
Easy peasy. I love eating like this.
Very tasty meals and I seriously do not feel hungry. Maybe because I’m on holiday and not doing a hell of a lot… I’ll test that next week when I’m back at work.
For those starting the Quit plan – day 1, 2 and 3 were hell for me. Maybe because not being allowed something made me want it more?
We were staying at my parents house for a few nights and I was surrounded by Vanilla Coke (my old fave), chocolate, tons of fruit and sugar sugar sugar! I didn’t touch a single thing. But not going to lie, I did stare at the items a bit. And contemplated eating them. Sugar really is an addiction.
Day 4 and 5? No cravings AT ALL! Not sure why, could be my body tricking me…
Definitely need a few more recipe ideas, oats and steamed veges and fish might get old very quickly – I’ve been reading a lot of blogs written by fellow Sugar-Free comrades, thank you all for your awesome comments, tweets and advice! I’ve visited all your blogs and have you saved to my Bloglovin account (very handy way to keep track of you all).
Next week is going to be hectic, and if I’m not prepared them I’m screwed. I realised that when I went out yesterday after breakfast and didn’t get home til late – was very difficult to find something that didn’t contain sugar and was healthy – what is wrong with this world?!! We need more options!
Potential business idea? Hmm….
(Me and my BF with my last sugar filled drink. I don’t know who’s glasses i’m wearing…)
Question – anyone else finding my blogs hard to read (the font size). Let me know, your opinions would be greatly appreciated!
Whoop whoop! Well done… 5 days down amongst tough conditions. I passionately agree – quitting sugar has adjusted my entire relationship with food. Like you, “I love eating like this”!!! It feels very right. Keep up the great work. Blog fine to read (maybe font a bit funny, but definitely readable.)
Great thank you for that :) just read your latest post – your meals sound far more exotic then mine! I’ll take note! Also want to buy that Supercharged book, i have a lovely boyfriend who may gift it to me…Haha
Well done for not giving in to temptation! The food might taste bland to begin with but you soon get used to it, and then the first time you taste sugar again it will be a BIG shock! The only thing I would suggest is adding snacks between breakfast and lunch, and lunch and dinner, or you might turn to sugar to satisfy your hunger!
Hmm yeah I know I need to – I’ve always struggled with snacking. Nuts don’t really do it for me all the time. Although I did buy some organic Tahini today which I could eat as a snack with carrots (the flavour was a lot more bitter then I was expecting…) :S
Congrats on your five days! I have been experimenting with sugar-free since October and I read David Gillespie’s other book, Sweet Poison. I know what you mean about being prepared. I take veggie sticks to work and sometimes eat them with natural peanut butter. I like plain yogurt with vanilla powder when I crave dessert. I use a 1/4 t of almond extract in my coffee sometimes. And I’m avoiding all artificial sweeteners–which has made a huge difference, because I actually taste the sweetness of real food now – like lettuce and peas! I’ll start to follow your journey–good luck!
Thanks Sarah!
Great idea with the yogurt trick, I havn’t craved dessert yet, but will try this when the craving comes!
I know what you mean about tasting the sweetness of foods now, only one week in and things are already tasting sweeter then usual.
Thanks for following, any tips/encouragement is so helpful, especially when this whole new lifestyle isn’t as welcomed in the ‘real world’ haha.
Will follow you right back!
